Weaver style rings on a Picatinny mount

So I have an AR (223) that has the Picatinny rail and was looking at getting some 1" rings to mount a Weaver V16.
When I go poking around for Pic. style rings, I can find lots of 30mm (which I have for my dot) but few for 1". And the ones I do find are $$$$.
I have found a lot of Weaver type rings that will fit my need but am wondering if they will work OK.
I know the Picatinny cuts are wider than Weaver and that is what my "concern" is with. Will the auto-loading action going to work the Weaver style rings back and forth? I know I could put the rings either apart or together to get them less able to move but, over time will they slide around in the slots or on the scope?

Thanks!!!

IMO, if you have a Picatinny rail system you should put the correct style of rings on it. What good will it do you to put a cheaper set of Weaver style on it and then have trouble? I heard someone else say one time "it doesn't cost that much more to go first class". I believe he meant if a person gets it right the first time it is right. As the old saying goes, bite the bullet. How much will those rings cost you if you get the cheaper rings first and they won't hold and then you get the correct rings afterward?

Leupold sells 1 inch Mark 4 rings that will fit Picatinny rails and Brownells sells reduction inserts to fit 1 inch scopes to 30mm rings.

Brownells also sells a really nice, and pretty inexpensive (under $60 bucks), AR scope mount with integral 1 inch rings that clamps right to the AR’s Picatinny rail.

The Marine Corps used the one inch tubed Unertl scopes with 30mm Badger rings, with reducer inserts, and didn’t seem to have any problems with them. The delrin inserts that Brownells sells give a really good grip on the scope tube without any maring.

It’s a quick/cheap fix that works, if that’s what you’re after, and it gives you the option of removing the inserts and using the same rings for 30mm scopes in the future.

I have been using the Warne, both the QD and the semi-permenent and they have worked perfectly. They are all steel and very reasonably priced.
