I am considering trying the Burris rings with the Posi-align system. I have a Remington 700 in 338-06 that I have mounted a 3-9x40 Vari-X II on. I need to raise the point of impact but the elevation adjustment on the scope is at its limit & it is still about a inch or 2 low at 50yd. I am using a one piece Burris base & Burris rings that were on the rifle before I had it rebarreled.
I was wondering exactely how this system worked. Would I need too purchase one or two of the bushing kits? Do I need to just lower the front or raise the back or both? Am I even looking at tackling this problem correctly?

Do you already have the Signature ring set?? If not, then you will need them, plus the bushing set with the 5, 10, and 20 MOA bushings. Call customer service at Burris and speak with them. They have always been helpful to me. First you should put the scope reticle back to the optical center and figure out how many MOA that you need. Then install the bushing that will get you there at 0 clicks. From there, you can finish your sight in. Example: you find yourself 30" low at 100 yards so you can use the 20 MOA bushing in the front ring and the 10 MOA bushing on the rear ring turned opposite to the front bushing. These are the only rings that I use now, there simply isn't anything better IMHO.

If you need less than 20" equivalent at 100 yds (i.e. 10" at 50 yds), you can get just one pos-align insert, in sizes for 5", 10", or 20" adjustment at 100 yds, respectively. Less $ than the assortment of all three offsets.

The signature rings and pos-align inserts are the best thing since sliced bread for mounting and aligning scopes.

FWIW you can get the whole shim/bushing set from Graf & Sons for like $12. It's worth it to have all of them. That way if you need to, you can shim the back and the front... heaven forbid you have to do that though. Smiler
