Swarovski Binocular warranty
Can someone tell me what the Swarovski Binoc warranty is like? Is it transferable if you buy a used pair off someone?

The technical answer to your question is no it is not transferable, however, swarovski has had a history of repairing their products (defects not abuse) whether you are the original owner or not.

They'll likely take care of you. I bought a pair of binos made in 1992 at a gun show last month. They were a little loose. I called them, and was told to send them in and they would clean, adjust and repair, gratis. I should have them back in a day or two, per their email. When I commented that the eye cups were getting a little stiff from age, they offered to replace them as well.

I bet they will take care of you. When I bought by 8x30s about 15 years ago the warranty card stated a 10 yr warranty but when I called Swarovski about 2 years ago when they fogged up they told me it was a warranty repair and rebuilt them at no cost. They stand behind their products.

It's these good posts about Swaro's warranty that has me buy Swaro products.

Swarovski makes a great product and they stand behind it...period. Unlike Leica they feel that if a customer pays over a grand for quality glass, the manufacturer should stand behind it. I have often wondered why Leica felt the need to limit their warranty. I hope that folks like Doug will get them to change their mind in the future. I own several Leica and Swarovski products....all work very well and I have had very few problems. Having said this I doubt I will buy Leica products again until they change their policy.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! Swarovski will take care of the problem with no problems. Leica will also based on my experience.

I called Swarovski today about an older pair of 8x30 WB Binoculars my wife bought me over 15 years ago. One of the floppy drop down lens caps crapped the bed while we were in Mexico this week.

All I wanted to do was get a new set. The woman couldn't believe I had never sent the bino's back for the "upgrade" since I had them.

Bottomline - Bino's are getting shipped to them for a full refot and cleaning "under warranty" and if there are any scratches on the optiks they will change them all out for upgraded new one for $135.

Duh!! No brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Great service!!

Another testimony to Swaro's great customer service is in order.
A year ago I wanted a Swaro PF 6x42 scope which is not imported into the United States. So, I called Swarovski's headquartes here in the states and inquired as to the possibility of getting one on special order. The lady I talked to said yes, we can do that for you. That in itself was near earth shattering as most places you call for items like that would have garnered a reply like, "I'm sorry, we don't import that scope", and I would have been out of luck. So, two days later I got a call from a dealer here in the US who said he would handle the purchase, even though he didn't stock them.
The scope is now mounted on a Rem 700 Classic rifle.
I defy other optics comapnies to equal that AWESOME service...

I rest my case.. thumb

I sent in my 20 year old 8x30SLC's because a piece in the focus dial came loose. Everything still worked fine but something was loose and I just wanted everything checked out. 2 weeks after I sent them in I got them back with the focus adjustment fixed, 2 new objective covers, new glass in the eye pieces, and some handy little lense cleaning wipes. ALL FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY!

Anybody want to guess what my next pair of binoculars will be?

Note to self:
If Leica, and Zeiss want my moolah, they gotta equal Swaro's customer service.
Or maybe that's a note to Leica and Zeiss.

I just sent in my old 8x30WB SLC's as well. I called to make sure they made it there and was asked why I "had never sent them in before this for the upgrade". Turns out I'm getting an all but new bino back in the newer style free of charge.

UNBELIEVABLE!! clap

Kudos on the great service Swarovski is providing you!!! thumb thumb It just doesn't get any better than that. However, my experiences with Leupold are identical to Swarovski's.
As I mentioned, it's that kind of GREAT service that has me buy more Swarovski products, not less!

Zilch!! They even paid the shipping back. I did pay to ship it to them, about $20 with insurance as I recall.

I have to chime in. Bought a 22 year old scope, with a little dust on the inside. Got it cheap and was prepared to take the cost for fixing it. Sent it to Swaro, and 6 weeks later it returned. It cost me nothing, and the only thing remaining of the old one, was the tube!!!
They had changed everything else...
Unbelievable!!! Wink

Swarovski just did it again. I bought a PV-N 2.5 - 10 x 42 with illuminated reticle NIB from an AR member and it turned out to be missing the BN-1 illuminater unit.

I called Swarovski gave them the serial number and they are sending me a replacement BN-1 free of charge.

These guys are unreal!! clap

A big +1 for Swarovski. I wrecked a pair of 10x42 EL's on a backpacking trip. I fell and scratched both lenses bad. They refurbished them and the invoice I got said new lenses were installed. All it cost me was shipping. They have a customer for life.

I sent a then-12-year old pair of Swaros back for servicing because of a problem with the focusing. I assume that some grit had crept in somewhere, as the focus adjustment still functioned but felt as though I was grinding coffee. When they returned a few weeks later, they were completely refurbished: new outer casing, new diopter adjustment system, new caps, looked like brand new...but the focus problem was totally unchanged! I was supremely pissed off, and sold them soon afterwards. A shame, because for those years of ownership they had been my favourite binos and saw a lot of use.

In comparison, a pair of Zeiss binos, about the same age or a bit older, were sent back because of a looseness that had developed in the focus wheel, came back looking as ratty as when they left, but mechanically perfect. I still have and enjoy using them.

Both instances occurred a number of years ago, and both entailed having the local distributor return the glasses to Europe for service work.

A friend of mine sent his 8x30 SLC made in the eighties in for service. It had gotten a little "milky" on the inside.
A few weeks later he received a NEW 8x30 SLC!

The invoice said: "Our products are not suppose to fail like your binos did. Therefore we replace them with new, and hopefully you will be satisfied with this solution."

Now THIS is why you spend the extra money on highend optics! Wink

Whow! That is more then I would exspect from this great company...!!! But it does not make me wonder. I have been serviced always perfect (even if I am just want to get some kind of information) and treated with respect! (which could not be said for other European(and especially German) manufactruers in this type of business)
