According to our distributors, the new Leupold VX-7 will be taking over the LPS line.

$1400 for the regular VX-7? Don't even want to think what the Mk4's will cost. Suddenly a $1300 Nightforce seems very reasonable. Leupold glass is distinctly inferior to NF, not to mention Schmidt & Bender, USO, Zeiss etc. Leupold just sold a pot full of their competitor's scopes.

Leupold can't be missing the success of the premium suppliers who are selling all the scopes they can build at twice the price that Leupold sells their scopes for, and envying that pot of money they are leaving on the table. It was only a matter of time.

However, they can't forget their roots, so like NIKON's Camera lens systems they need three levels of optics.

Me, I will stay with the worlds best.

Well, actually the monstrosity is on my varmint rifle. A 6.5-30x58 with a 35mm tube.

Looks like a Jewell trigger, but the rear scope base looks like it needs bedding.

Not required, reciever and base arranged for clip slot interface and 8-32 screws per the prototype, M40A3. Thought about having smith precision fit the base but coating too hard for hand work. Besides this is a working rifle. Barrel is #7 pattern 3 groove 1/10 twist Lilja 24". Wink

PS: Rifle shown with former USO MST-100 scope and prototype rings, which I traded for USO SN-3 Canadian Horus with Lit H-25 and 34mm rings as shown.

what leupold have basically done is admitted that there top of the range scopes are not in the same class as the zeiss, S&B,and sworovski scopes...and there are those still who say they can see no diffrence between leupolds and the euro scopes!!! i guess the people a leupold can, and have seen the diffrence
