A friend has an unused one he wants to sell. He paid $2500. It is discontinued and it’s replacement sells for $3000. What is a fair price now? Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

That would make a good night time hog hunting scope!

I've heard that you can mount a gun under an astronomical telescope like this one, point the telescope at an object which you wish to shoot, and when discharged the gun's projectile will hit the object (within a certain distance, at least). The problem is getting the telescope pointed at what you want to shoot, but if you can accomplish this the gun slung below it will follow. By the way, although seemingly a bit awkward, adding the gun to the telescope adds only a relatively small amount of weight and bulk to the telescope, so it is not particularly more difficult to handle.

They aren't discontinued. They just aren't being sold in the US. The current price for that scope is $2259 Euros, which is around $2558 in USD. Closeout pricing here in the US will likely affect its value. Those clearance deals were around 1699-1799 as best as I can recall.
