I just picked up my Weatherby UL in .270. This gun primarily Mule deer under 400 yds. I want a lightweight scope, so I was looking at the A Line 3x9x36. Is there a reason to jump up to the 3x10x42 or even the 4x12x50? I wanted to stay light. Even though the 3x10 is only 1oz heavier, the 4x14 is only 2 .oz heavier.

I would like to draw the line somewhere, but walking a bit in a circle now. The difference in $ is not an issue.

For 1oz? I would go with the 2.5-10x42 in a heart beat. The bigger front lens will really help in low light.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....
