Looking for ideas about good budget scopes. I need a higher magnification (at least 16x), and prefer vari-power. Any suggestions?

I got one of these Muellers a few years back and have been quite pleased with it.Mueller Eradicator

They run around $235. I feel it is as bright and sharp as scopes costing considerably more.

Don't know if this fits in your budget or not,but give it some thought.

OK, thanks guys. $250 is definately within the budget. Anything under about $600 actually. I had a bushnell elite 3200, but have had nothing but trouble with it.

This is within that price tag . Nikon Monarch 5X20X44 SF , I liked it so much that I bought another one !. I generally prefer Zeiss or Leupold . After purchasing and using it , I decided on another one . NO REGRETS !.
