Who makes the best QD rings for a CZ 550? I have Warne QD rings on two of my other rifles, and am very happy with them....but with CZ's unique rail design, I just wanted to see if there were any others that came highly recommended.

Thanks guys.

Talley,
They are what I have on mine and they work very well on my 416 Rigby with Leupold 1.5x-5.

Have a look at the AR thread at the location below, Talleys rings on a CZ 416.

I comment on the thread that from what I can see the Talleys split rings have a major weakness in that the two ring clamp screws at the bottom of the ring actually only serve to clamp the ring to the scope and have large milled recesses for the screw heads and seem to play no part in helping to strengthen the fixed dovetail.
In the case of the rings for the CZs or older Brnos rings also have a protrusion detent which sits into a milled recess on the left rear integral base.

As you can see in the photos of the failed Talley ring in the thread, this detent has taken a battering obviously from the rings not clamping tight enough on the bases.

With most other non-split rings, e.g. original Weavers, the through bolt serves to apply full clamping strength to the fixed dovetail i.e. unlike the Talleys where the clamping purchase of the lever is doing its best to split off the fixed dovetail, a Weaver through bolt is actually 'clamping' the fixed dovetail even tighter to the ring base (bit hard to explain in words).

I have original steel rings on my Brno with integral bases and protruding detent and these rings are exceedingly strong but of course these are the type of scope ring split horizontally.

Personally I do not understand the 'must have' lever type QD rings as I would not think anyone would need to remove their scope that quick while on a hunt. A quick flick of a knife in the knurled screw head slot and any QD ring can be taken off a rifle very quickly. As for the Talleys or other vertical split rings, I find them just plain bulky and ugly and they do break.

Give Morris a call at Alaska Arms, very nice QD rings, have a set on a CZ 9.3. You can also get his rings directly from CZ...

I have Talley rings on my .416 Rigby and .458 Lott, no problems with either rifle.

Neither did bobby7321 until he was into his hunt.
Looking at those rings from an engineering point of view and for something you can have some choice over at little if any extra cost, I would not risk them when spending so much on a hunt.

I am pretty pleased with these earlier CZ rings. I do have a set of Alaska Arms rings but have not yet used them. They look very well made.

I have Warne Quick Detach Lever Rings on my CZ550 9.3x62, Weatherby MK V 300 Mag, Remington 700 30.06, Winchester Model 70 Safari Express 375. I am totally happy with them & any other rifle I buy will have them put on also. They have been my choice for close to 30 years.

I use Warne QD's on my 550FS in 9.3 X 62 and they have always returned to zero and have never been a problem of anykind. I actually have two sets, with two different scopes and change them quite often to fit my different optic needs. Look them up on Warne website, pickout one of their Dealers there and go for it.

I agree with Muttly. The Alaska Arms LLC rings are very nice high quality rings at a very reasonable price patterned after the Burgess design. I think they are the top of the market.

Like Lazarus, this thread resurrects.

Back in SA we used to get rings / mounts very similar to Boxhead's under the name Lynx.

I had set on every scoped rifle I had, and every rifle was a CZ or a BRNO - Had different types - QD, ordinary (as shown) and also bases with rings - all worked fine.

Talleys top split rings suck, I would never own another set.

I like the Innomount option, as discussed from our German friends. Everything about that mount is solid.

I will say that the Talley one peice ultra-lights are great.
