I wouldn't trust it on a 06.Buy Nikon 3x9 buckmasters from the www.theopticzone.com/
or a leupold VX1 3x9.

I have a Bushnell 3-9x40 Trophy on a 12 Ga. slug gun. Two years of maybe 15 rounds per year and it has a large halo starting in the forward lense.

My dad's 30-06 has been wearing a Bushnell Banner for as long as I can remember. Certainly not a Swaro, but it's still working just fine.

About 5-6 years ago I bought My first Bushnell, an Elite 3200. There was some kind of a deal, so I got a Trophy 1.5x4.5, for pretty cheap. It has been on my 308, 30-06 and 7x57 sometimes more than once. I tend to use it when my shots might be close. In fact I've shot some of my best 100yd groups with it. Maybe I just got lucky, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it on any hunt where it was appropriate. capt david troll

"It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Get closer!

The elite series, banner and trophies have worked out well for most people, but the sportsman and sportview have had some issues with holding zero and the point of impact changing as the magnification was adjusted.

I had a Sportview 3-9x that was on several rifles over the years. 30-06, 308, 223 and couple rimfires. It held zero and was fine. This one from Korea. Finally put it on a 45-70 just to see if I wanted a scope on it. After 3 shots it was broken. Bushnell replaced it under warranty with a Sportsman.

Have used the Sportsman on a .223 Ruger #1, and a Marlin 357 carbine. It holds zero fine, and doesn't enlarge groups. I use it as a fill in when I get something I don't yet have a scope on. This one from China does suffer from point of aim change when you change magnification. I am usually sighting in with it, so just stick it on 9x.

I don't buy such cheap scopes anymore. And would suggest you get something a bit north of a $100 at least. Though it may do fine on your 30-06.

The Buckmaster is a good suggestion. Another is a Weaver K series in either a fixed 4x or 6x. Those are good optically, tough, and run about $125 give or take a few bucks.

My experience concurs with stubblejumper. I also have a little trouble focusing the only sportview I owned personally.

When I was younger and scrimping on dollars, there was a Bushnell 4-X Banner on my pre-'64 M-70 FW in .358 Win. It rode there 14 years, and was kept when the rifle was sold. It is still in the vault on one of my more recent rifles (don't remember which). Always has worked fine for me.

Having said that, there was a time 35-40 years ago when for 4-5 years Bushnells were trouble for a lot of people. Near as I can tell, those days are gone, but wisps of the bad rep tend to hang on.....

I generally try to put better glass on everything now, but if I HAD to hunt with a Bushnell 3200, I wouldn't be the least bit worried.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Bushnell markets a wide variety of Asian-made optics. Generally, when they used to be available, even the cheapest FIXED power scopes were dependable. The cheap variables have never been dependable, either optically or as an optical gunsight. The optical shortcomings are obvious, and they are prone to impact shift with power adjustment, as well as "shooting loose".

The Bausch and Lomb line (name license now expired), and the 3200 and 4200 line are said to be of much higher quality. They are also at least equal to or higher in price than the basic Leupold lines, so it's hard to say why one would bother with them. But if you happen to acquire one, they are said to be acceptable or even superior optically, and at least useable in terms of eye relief, size, weight, and repeatability.

Their shotgun scopes aren't worth a flip. A slug gun or turkey gun kicks too much for them. I shot someones slug gun last year that was topped w/ one of their 1.5-4x scopes w/ the diamond reticle and the scope would lose zero every time you fired a high powered slug down range. He replaced it w/ a VXII and fixed his huge group problem.

I tried a 4x Bushnell on a 30-30 several years ago and it held up for a couple of years before the reticle came loose.

Tried another one on an 06 and it would not handle the recoil.

Any of the Bushnells that don't have elite on them are only good for a rimfire IMO.

Good Luck

Had a Bushnell Scope Chief back in the mid 70s on a 338 Win Mag and it was a fine scope. Had one of the clearest views of any scope I've used.

I had a new Trophy 3-9x40 on 30/06 BAR. It's a little soft around the edges.

My wife gave me a 4X sportview yaers ago for a birthday or something. Anyway it was on my 270, 30-06 and one season on my .416. Always held zero but the paralax around 100 yards makes it a spreader. At 50 yards it would cut small groups, then out past 100 it would average 2-3" groups on a sub MOA .270. Man I screwed with that rifle all one afternoon thinking it was a rifle problem.

My 2.5X banner was a very nice scope and was persice but on my 45-70 I got carried away with real heavy lods and the crosshair broke at the duplex. I plan on having it fixed though because I did like it a lot.

My 3-9 3200 Elite is a very nice scope in my books. I've never owned a $500 to $900 class scope, and as long as I can get one like the Elite I won't have to. I've used it on my .416 and it held zero and it makes animals "glow" in the dark. I don't have a lot of money to put into many scopes of big dollars so cannot compare them to top brands.

I just ordered a Legend in 3-9 X 40 after looking through a 50mm and was impressed with the clearity. It's going on a 338 wildcat similer to a 338-06 so we'll see what they're made of.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it
