I use that reticle (in non illuminated form) on my O/U in 9,3x74 R for drive hunting. It's very fast on running shots.

Thanks guys!

I decided to take the advice of learned gentlemen like Andre, and try out one of these "newfangled", illuminated reticles in a Swaro 1.25-4x24.

We shall see whether breaking with tradition (for me that meant: #4, #8 or Plex) pays off in the field... Just looking at the CD reticle, the reticle does seem a bit "busy". Also, this will be the first for me, using an illuminated reticle for driven game. But since you people in the know seem to swear by them for driven hunting, I decided it was worth trying...

Mike,
My double rifle being my fair weather rifle; I needed its counterpart for those not so infrequent rainy days Cool
Here it is :

R93 OffRoad, 9,3x62 + Swaro 1,25-4x24PVI-2. Same scope as above but with an illuminated reticle 4. Very satisfactory too for running shots and even superior in darker woods.
This is a pic taken through it to show an aiming view :

Mike CD is a very thoughtfull gadget - tho may take time to get used to and get a full advantage of it - learn to use that circle - in close running boar shooting, the circle should take over the dot - it was meant to be used as a ghost ring (your eye should subconsciously frame the target in the middle of the circle) - take it to the range and practise with instinct fast shooting, intentionally overlooking the fine lines and the dot (just concentrate on the circle to frame the target) - you will be surprised at the speed and accuracy achieved - I know I was Smiler

P.S. And don't forget to lead the target - on Andre's pic of a boar, the shooter is already late Wink

Aha, Mouse, so you also use this reticle. My search here unearthed Andre and other distinguished gentlemen as users, but I did not spot your name. This is good, both you and Andre deliver first hand experience directly relating to hunting driven boar.

Actually, one of our distinguished US members (was it "mrlexma"?) also mentioned the use of the circle as the sole aiming device at short range. It seems there must be something to it...

Unfortunately I had a privilege to use it only couple of times when I borrowed my friend's rifle - but when I will be buying my next one for the purpose I will sure give a CD closest look.

Mouse is right, of course. The photo I used comes from Swarovski and is obviously a studio creation. As for myself, judging distance and speed of the target, I would have swung along and held my aiming point on the neck, just under the ear, for a shoulder hit. Cool
