Gentlemen

I am looking for some imput on the "new" 2.5-10x42 Variopoint.
I want a 42mm scope for a low mounth on my old winchester but still 10X magnification for those long shots.

Ps rifle is a .375 H&H with a old style low comb stock made for open sights.

Cheers,

André

André,

FWIW, I have a Varipoint 2.5-10x50 of the "old" type, and have been pleased with it.

Since I stopped by the Zeiss importer here the other day, I asked about the new version and was told that besides that they have moved the illumination switch from the top over to the side (like most other illuminated scopes have), the biggest differance was the new lense coating. Apparently, it is a major break thru, and water droplets, dust etc don't stick to the glass as much as before. Or so I was told. Wink

If my scope had been available back when I bought it with a 42mm objective, instead of the 50mm that was available at the time, I'd have gone with the sleaker 42mm. thumb

Erik

Thanks for the help.
I am getting the scope and hope to be able to maouth it lower then my 50mm. The sleeker look is very safari Big Grin. and look more right. I do however like the 10x option for the longer shots.

Nightforce optics make a 2.5-10x24 wow do you known it? I had the 5.5-22x56 once and was very pleased with it. However nothing beats the top notch Zeiss scopes

Cheers,

André
