Another project: I have an old (1971) Ruger 44 mag. carbine witht the "sporter" stock. The rifle is currently fitted with an old Leupold 2.5X scope mounted with Weaver(?) see-through rings. (The lift the scope so that I can use the original iron sights on the gun.

So far no real problem BUT, my cheek is not down on the stock so when I mount the gun quickly I find my self having to look up to find the cross-hairs. That is why I am looking at replacing them. Suggestions?

The front mount/ring actually mounts on the barrel just in front of the receiver so not just any set of rings work.

I realize that this is not the worlds greatest rifle but for deer/bear in heavy brush here in Michigan, it is almost the ideal rifle. In any event, I just love carrying and shooting this rifle.

Suggestions for rings/mounts?
