john c.mounting help needed
buddy got a new ruger HAWKEYE stainless in 308. he got a set of ruger #4 ring/base combo to fit the half moon slot in the reciever. BUT... the front of the reciever is much higher than the rear of the reciever. he temporarily mounted the scope then went "huh" when it looks like a ski slope. i looked at it and went "huh" too. anyone know the fix? the gap is way too big to shim. thanks

john c.rings are both ruger #4. its not the rings that are diff. heights, its the "bases" that are built in, part of the reciever.

Randy KSomething is not right with your set of rings. A proper set of ruger rings for their bolt rifles will have 1 ring that is taller than the other. That makes up for the difference in height between the front and rear of the receiver. Call Ruger, they will almost certainly make your set of rings right.

john c.THAT makes sense. thanks, will do.
Ruger factory rings come in sizes 3,4,5 and 6. The front ring is always one size lower than the rear ring. Most rifles leave the factory with a Medium pair (4 Front, 5 Rear).
