I was fortunate enough to buy a German-Made Zeiss rifle scope while stationed in Ramstein, Germany in the early 80's. Bought it in a gun shop in Landstuhl, Germany with a VAT-Free certificate. The scope is a Zeiss Diavari ZA, 30mm, 1.5-6X42 T*, marked "Made in West Germany". It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship I have mounted on a Pre-64 Mod 70 in 280AI with Millet Contoured 2-Pc bases and EAW 30MM rings. The rifle has been inactive for near 15 years and I find I need to make some reticle adjustments to zero it back in. The turrets are marked "1 Click = 1cm/100m". The horizontal has a CW arrow marked R. The vertical has a CW arrow marked H. Does H mean up? I have no German but maybe the H is connected to the word "Hochsitz - High Seat". Can someone help me please. I also put this on Campfire hoping to increase the number of readers. Sure want to get this rig back in action.

If your elevation dial is marked in German, "H" means up (and "T" means down).

One cm = approx. 0.4".

I mean, with no disrespect intended, it ain't rocket science. 1cm at 100 meters is VERY ROUGHLY going to be 1/3 inch at 100 yds, actually about .36 inch. I don't speak German either but the H probably mean hoch for "up" and the R is "recht" for right. If you've got to sight in anyway, just assume that is correct and if your bullet impact moves the other way, you'll know otherwise. Nice scope BTW.

You guys, plus the unrepentant Baathists, Al Quaeda and the Taliban, are the reason there's an ammo shortage. Big Grin
