I really need some input on a scope that will be good for a !000 yard shot. Most of my shooting however will be less than 500 yards. I would LIKE to stay under $1000. Any and all input will be greatly appericated.

I was going to say Nightforce, but the $1,000 cap kills that. A scope for 1,000 yards will pretty much kill the rifle's use for closer-range hunting. I like a 4 1/2 x 14 for my long-range rifles, but I don't shoot 1,000 yards either.

A 1,000 yard shot at what and taken how? What your target is and in what manner you intend to take the shot nearly always makes a difference in the kind of optical gunsight that is best suited to the situation.

Butchloc I would never have thought of them. I probley will never shoot past 600 but would like to have the capibility for S--t and giggles.

If you are talking about a scope for 1000 yard shooting would you also take into consideration a scope mount with extra elevation built into it (if the scope doesn't enough elevation adjustment)?
