Hey I am a Talley user from way back. I was wondering if the stock Ruger rings will go back to Zero if put on the same way each time, It would be easy to put a reference point on them so they were tightened to the same place each time.. Hase anybody tried this?? Does it work???
Thanks Sur5er.......

Talley doesn't make rings for Ruger rifles. Warne did make them for Rugers, but stopped.
I don't know of anyone making QD rings for Runger's today.
Leupold does make regular rings for them, but I don't think they make QD's. But, it would be worth a check to find out.

I see what you are saying Sur5er. I my youngest son 25, uses a Ruger-77 stainless in 338 for the most of his hunting. He got it so full of mud on a pig hunt last winter He took it into the yard and sprayed it off with a hose. During this time he took the scope off at the bases. When we went to the range we re installed the scope and started shooting. It was right on the money. But think about, its not much different from Ruger mounts and the Talleys, Well as far as concept. Since I own several Talley set ups I have to say their machine quality is near perfect. I would like to hear other opinions on this.. What do ya say guys..

In my experience the Ruger rings do return to zero. I have a .416 with two scopes both pre-set in Ruger rings. I interchange the scopes during practice sessions ocassionally just to check the back-up scope.

Ruger rings are cast and Talley's machine set-up can't make the needed cut to machine Ruger rings. I guess Warne just didn't find enough business from folk changing out Ruger rings. Warne rings are cast also.

Ruger rings come back so close to zero, you can just about say they go back to zero....i have got 4 diffrent scopes for my 06 all for diffrent conditions, all with ruger rings and its a wonderful set up ...i have used it for over 10 years with many overseas hunts and never a problem

I have six Mk I's four of which have open sights. I take the scopes off those four often, and return them, so that I can practice with the open sights. They return close enough to zero that I haven't needed to adjust them for several years.

If you search the forums here, there was somebody who made levers to replace the screws in Ruger Mounts so they had a true QD facility like Warnes or Talleys.

Pete your right , but im not sure if there still in business, i thought those levers really complemented ruger rings, and just added another facet of flexibility

I bought some QD levers for my RSM back in 2005.

I then bought an assortment of washers from Brownells in various thicknesses so I could get the levers to land in the same position when fully tightened. You must make sure the washer outside diameter is no larger than the countersink in the rings. I'll look around for them to see if I can come up with a part number.

The levers were blued with a deep luster to match the Ruger extended rings I put on the RSM for a Leupold 2.5 - 8.

The company who made the levers was:

Falcon Industries
P.O. Box 1690
Edgewood, NM 87015
877-281-3783

Back in 2005 the set of levers was $ 42 + $ 4 S & H.

I have noticed no change in POI when taking the scope off and back on. Hope that helps.

Never had a scope lose zero after removal on a Ruger more than 1/4" and that is the exception rather than the rule for me. The Ruger scope rings are the single biggest selling point for me.
