The prices are very good, the optics also seem excellent. I have my 3-9x40 (?) on a .30-06, and it has put in some very good groups.

On the negative side: the objective part of the scope came loose (gun sitting in cabinet) and wobbled around. Minox fixed it. We shall see how it holds up?

Gee Mike,

You need to have a Voodo ritual at the Gun Safe to rid it of those pesky Scope Gremlins.

I keep looking at the Minox offers too; they're certainly a resonably priced alternative. Just don't require the currently vogue (in the U.S.) 4" of eye relief for Blaser Saddle Mounts.

Had similar issue on a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 that had the turret jammed into the front Saddle Mount ring for (not quite enough) eye-relief.

I popped it outa the rings the last day of a hunt in RSA and gave it to the PH - he's still thanking me every opportunity he gets!

Cheers,

HAve the ZA-5 1.5-8x32. Really like it as a lightweight scope with the 4a reticle. Glass is good, on par with my Conquests. The adjustments seemed fine. Just haven't taken the 270 WSAM out into the field with it yet...

I have one of the 3-15 ZA5 models and I can't seem to warm up to it. I have it mounted on a new 25-06 that I haven't been able to group as well as I would expect. I'm about to swap scopes on the rifle to see what happens.

I had both the Minox scoped rifle and a 3-9 x 40 conquest scoped rifle at the range the other week and the conquest was significantly better.

Things I've noticed with the Minox scope.
1. The initial adjustment click of the turrets doesn't feel positive, the subsequent clicks have a good feel.
2. there's significant "flare" from sunlight
3. I need to constantly adjust the focus, based on varying distances
4. things almost look farther away to me, when I look through the scope. If I have the scope on 3x and shoulder it, the object I'm looking at almost appears smaller than when I look at it with the naked eye.
5. on high power, the eyebox is very small

I had a 2-10 minox and it just didn't work for my eyes. The slight fuzziness at the edges, although not accuracy affecting, was distracting to me. Worse though was that the reticle was just too fine for my eyes to work with.

Just my opinion, but the Zeiss #20 might be the best all-around reticle I've ever used.

Robert
