What is the best ring and base to use
for a pre 64 mod.70. I am planning an African plains game hunt. I have a 375 & 338 but
feel the 375 is excessive for plains game.
I really hate to use either one as both are
95% plus, but can not find any good FN's out
there in the classic British style.
It is my first and probably only trip to the Dark Continent; so I wanted to make the best of
it on a beer budgest. Don't laugh, I have had
these guns a long time and sold some German
Military collectables to buy them.
ANY feedback for this new member would be much
appreciated. I don't know if the quick release
rings are better than just using the dual dove
tail ones.

Thank you for the information.
I have also noticed that Warne was highly
recommended at the Cabellas site. I guess which
one makes a base to fit the pre-64 Mod.70's.
I don't know if they have the 860 hole spacing.
