A friend of mine bought his first centerfire rifle and bought a set of Leupold Standard (Redfield style) Bases and Rings. Being a fan of Weaver/Picatinny Bases and Burris Signature Rings, I've never mounted this style of scope mounts. Any tips and tricks to getting things lined up without having to buy a bunch of crap he'll never use again? "We are what we repeatedly do. I just use a 1" dowel to turn the dove tails into place. Remove the top of the rings, slide the dowel back and forth to see if it's square with the rings. If it is, the rings will be square with the scope. Some people do it with the scope, but I prefer to put the torque on a $2.00 dowel and not a $500.00 scope. | |||
