Does anybody know who is making the Cabelas Alaska Guide Scopes? Anybody tried one?

There is a relative handful of Asian scope manufacturers, but they have any number of plants located in any number of countries, and some of the plants themselves are owned by other companies who build scopes or parts of scopes for the "name" contactor. One of the oldest and most prominent is Hakko (or is it Haako?), a Japanese company. But I'm told that Hakko now has plants or subcontractors in Taiwan, the Phillipines, and possibly even China itself.

To answer your question, I don't have a clue as to who builds the Cabela's line, but I'm not sure that knowing would tell you much about the scope. The proof is in the pudding: How does the scope perform? Only actual usage will answer that question.
