With he weak dollar, even at $500.00 off they are still over priced.

Not sure I agree with them being over priced. For absolute top of the line glass, the cost of the Leica 2.5-10 is coming in at $900 after rebate. That's a fantastic price that's very, very competitive against Zeiss and Swaro top of the line scopes (which also retail from $1600 up). Now whether or not such a scope gives you any value over a $400 Leupold or Conquest remains to be seen. It may not... In any case, I put my order in this morning and will be getting my order this week! Wooohooo! Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

BTW, if there is anyone in SoCal that would like to come over and play with some new scopes towards Friday, send me a PM. I'm in Anaheim Hills and we have all sorts of low-light stuff to look at. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

I think this is a smart move by Leica, as they were probably being sold at a rather slow pace since it is a new scope and it is an expensive scope competing at the upper end of scopes: 1. At $900, the price is pitched well below Swarovski, Zeiss and S&B and Kahles; top of the line scopes, making it good value for money. This should move the stock on the shelf before Christmas and rake in some cash and getting the scopes out there in circulation and every user will tell 10 friends that he is happy with the product. 2. Getting old scopes of other makes that are traded in out of circulation, so they could be thrown onto a heap after being hit with a hammer to render them useless. I checked on recently and must say I liked what I saw, and also Leica offered the scope with a longer tube making mounting more versatile. To cover the market better and to gain a wider use I think that Leica will have to offer more models as they are not entrenched in the market place as yet. Warrior

...leica uses the same marketing tactics in its camera sector...and, frequently, just before introducing a new product model or discontinuing an existing product line... ...leica's second attempt at penetrating the scope market was probably a mis-timed adventure, imho (global financial crisis and gyrating currency values)... ...hence, these scopes represent true value and may even end up as collector pieces...again, imho...

I expect there will be a run on cheap scopes on ebay.. Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Wow, just got my package. These things are very, very Euro! Gotta slow down and take some pix. First glance though, the glass is at least on par with a Diavari 2.5-10x42 and light years better than the Burris Euro Diamonds that I have. More to come, but right now I'm struggling to keep myself just going crazy mounting them! Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!
