My Weaver 2.5 Post Cross Hair scope will not now adjust on left/right cross hair. Does anyone known still work on these old El Paso scopes?
Would like to keep using it if I can get it repaired.. Thanks.

Iron Sight Inc. did a good job on my old Nickel Supra and they fix Weavers, too.

For a scope no more expensive than the old Weaver I'd normally say just get a new one. But there aren't any new ones from any maker. The low-magnification fixed power scope has, regrettably, become a thing of the past.

The current generation of scope buyers think that (1) it has to be variable, (2) the objective lens has to be 50mm, and better yet 56mm, (3) the tube has to be no less than 30mm, and (4) the magnification has to be at least equal to the buyer's age.

So, good luck getting your fine old Weaver fixed and may it serve you well for many years to come. It will have to.

Well said, SC.

I've got a Weaver 2.5x from 1947 and its optics are remarkable. The eye relief, eye box and field blending are as good as, if not better than, a Nickel Supra's and the glass quality is not too bad, either.

There is a guy in El Paso that rebuilds old Weavers, but can't recall his name, try the internet..I recall he does good work..

The old Weavers were good scopes, main pain is they were not moisture proof, but did fine in the SW desert and most popular..I tried a couple of todays Weavers and they are not expensive and a damn good scope, clear as a bell and hold adjustments..

Today I like the Leupold 3X and 4X, and they are expensive from Leupold these days..but buy a used one, the guarantee is good for repair, but they are down for business on the custom stuff, rebuilding the work area..The will fix the scope regardless of being second hand..I just sent my old 4X to them for repair..Its been abused for 50 years..

ADD ON:
They sent me a new one at no cost. not even shipping, its a 4x33, but they gave me a choice of whichever scope I wanted..I wanted to be fair so I took another 4X, besides they are supposed to be discontinued..leupolds aways dealt like that and that's why Ive used them for over 40 years..
