I would get a long range Leupold in the 6.5x20 or 8x24 long range version....they have good glass and extra elevation movement for long range requirements.....the Nightforce in similar power ranges work well also...at a cost of more weight but the glass is clear and adjustments precise in the few I have used....the sloped type mounts will give you more lattitude in internal scope adjustments.......hth...good luck and good shooting a long way out there!!!

Take a look at Shepherd 3x-10x40mm built in range finding and bullet drop to 1000yds.

Since your rifle will be a heavy one (not a carry rifle), I would opt for a Leupold 6.5-20x Long Range scope (50mm Obj), with the 30mm tube.
I have one on my beanfield rifle, a 284 Win, and love it.
You mentioned a Unertl scope. They are fine, but they are barrel mounted, so you'll have to get the barrel drilled and tapped for scope blocks to mount the Unertl. I have several rifles set up for these type scopes, and I have two barrel mounted scopes, a Unertl 1 1/2" 24x target, and a Mitchell 2 1/2" 32 x target. I swap them around from rifle to rifle.
The optics of the Mitchell are the best I've ever looked through.
If you decide to go with the Unertl type scope, field of view goes down as the scope power goes up, as they are fixed power scopes. That can be an issue for target acquisition when hunting. For years back in the 1950's, I had a Unertl 1 1/2" 16 x Target scope on a 22-250 I used for chuck hunting. When I located a chuck with the binox, I'd get my eye into the Unertl and have some difficulty locating the chuck due to it's small FOV. I'd think that would be an issue Coyote hunting, when the yote is on the move.
I do like the Unertl scopes for targets that are not likely to move much though. They sure look good on a long range rifle, just like the old days.

I have 2 Unertls too-- a 15X Ultra Varmint, and 20X 2". Man i loved those scopes. I've gone back and forth over the years contemplating putting one of those scopes back on a dedicated long-range coyote rig, but they're a big hinderance to the walking hunter, which i am. For this reason i've stuck to the Leupolds, Burris's, etc. My favorite long-range hunting scopes for coyotes/big game now are the PFI Rapid Reticle scopes right here-- www.rapidreticle.com I have the 3-9X 32 22 Long Rifle reticle on an AR, and it's the best system out to 500 yds. i've ever used.

I love the Night Force NXS scopes. Adjustments are spot on, get the Zero stop feature if you wish...........3.5-15X56, perhaps.
