...and measure: 1/The scope tube mounting length. 2/ the dia. of the rear rubber focus ring, which is just a little larger than the eyepiece body itself. They made the 3-9x36c zeiss in two variations; German assembled and US assembled, at some point, I believe they changed the mounting tube length. ..If you must know, this is in order to help me determine whether I can fit such scope on laM70 using my Leupold DD superlow rings...Thanks a million if you can do these brief measures for me...WJ.

Sorry, only have access to a US assembled specimen. The earlier German scopes were 2-3 times the price of the US assembled scopes... Fabulous scopes! They may not have the most modern optics, but they sure are hard to break. Mine has been with me all over the Globe. A friend of mine tests all the custom rifles his shop puts out with one of these scopes... Just keeps ticking. My US assembled scope has a main tube length *just* over 5.4" The largest diameter on the occular is indeed the rear diopter adjustment ring. Sadly, mine has lost its rubber cover, so I can only measure the bare (no rubber) diameter: 1.658" - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Thanks MHO, Gives me a close idea of the dia., maybe someone will still come up with a full measure....but I feel a little grind of the bolt handle might just allow me to mount up and go into the bush with a rubber...
