I just did a search on this( using the AO) and did not find out much, I just bought a Nikon 3.3-10x44 AO(had originally ordered a Nikon 3-9x40, but was back ordered over a month , thats why I upgraded and went to the 3.3-10), going to use it on my Tikka 25-06, mainly deer rifle and most shots will be within the 250-300 yards. All my scopes are variables and usually left at 4 or 5 power, this one I will leave the same for the most part, heres my question, the AO left at 100 yards, at lower power settings and under 300 yards you will not have any problems with the parellex. Is this true? Any other useful info would be appreciated. Thanks Tim
As you're aware, the AO provides you no advantages for the type of hunting you'll use it for. It does provide another "system" in the scope to potentially fail or a place for moisture to leak; but assuming you have no problems there it is not necessarily a detriment for a game hunting scope. Simply place the AO setting somewhere between 100 and 200 yards and your parallax error will be negligible.
DON'T try to constantly adjust it for anticipated game ranges. Murphy's law dictates that wherever you set it, it will be wrong when the game appears, so just treat it like a fixed scope and set it and forget it.

Got the scope last night and have decided to put it on my Ruger heavy 22-250 which I'm setting up for prarie dog shooting this summer, should work out great!
I'm not sure if I got this right, but isn't the depth of field shallower in A/O scopes that non-A/O ones? Maybe someone more knowledgeable about this subject will chime in and clear it up.

That's the right move!
Get a Conquest for your 25.06, try Jon at the Optic Zone, or doug at Cameraland, they both post here, and both stock the Conquests, great scopes, and great sellers.
