If there were absolutely no obstacles (money, military, etc.) what are the top three to five rangefinders you would recommend? Why?

Thanks,

Shannon

The new Zeiss 8x26 will get a reading as fast as the Leica CRF-1200 with the higher quality, brighter optics of the Swarovski Laser Guide 8x30.
IMO, The Zeiss is the way to go.

Doug,
Does the Zeiss have an inclinometer like Bushnell and Leupold?

I agree 1000% with TIM.

I've had separate rangefinders and Binos.

Last ones were the Leuopold rx-lll 800's . I couldn't get a reading on an object unless it was the size of a rail car at 300 yards.

I just took the plunge and got the Leica Geovids. It's really awsome. Readings on very small objects out to 1200 yards are a breeze and the Binos are the best money can buy.

It's nice having both in one package so you don't have to carry multiple items while hunting. It's really nice to be glassing something you want to shoot and just hit the button to find out it's range.

Spend the money. You'll not regret it.

How do any of these work in the cold? I was going to go on elk hunt a few years ago and was looking a one of the mid to higher end rangefinders. Got to looking at the info. sheet that came w/it....said it wouldn't work below say 20F!

+3 on the Leica Geovids. One less step to take when a long range shooting opportunity presents itself.

I agree with Doug on the Zeiss. I checked one out and it is fantastic. Its on my list of "wants". Not everyone can afford 3200.00 for a pr of high quality binos with a rangefinder, especially when you already have a quality "regular" pair. Its a whole lot easier to cough up 700.00 for the Zeiss 8x26 rangefinder.

I have the Lecia CRF 1200 and looked at 3 times in 2008 I ranged a deer with it and then shot the deer: 400 yards, 500 yards, and 400 yards.

I have some 9 ounce binocs that are strapped to my chest.

The 8 ounce range finder is in my pocket.

I wish these two could be combined.
If I buy another CRF 1200 and duck tape it to the other one, I could strap the pair to my chest as $1200 16 ounce range finding binoculars.

The Geovids are $2000 33 ounce range finding binocs.
