Does anyone have any experience with a Thermal scope.

I am thinking of getting this on a good deal here in NZ - Sytong LM02-25 Thermal Rifle Scope

Never heard of that brand so I don't know the specifics about it. Look for as high of a sensor resolution as you can afford.

Most people say that 320X240 is as low as you should go with a display of 1080 or 4K.

I bought a Pulsar Thermion (640x480) because of the recommendation of my Kiwi friends and on a cold night I can make out feral cats at 400 yards.

Then check the pixel pitch, the industry is shifting from 17 microns to 12 microns.

Don't go with too high of a magnification on the high end. The scope resolution is rated on the lowest magnification and every time that you double the magnification, you halve the resolution. Saying that I can still identify a deer at 400 yards with my scope on 24X (3X base)

The scope arrived but not the picatinny rail for it.

I have had a short play with it and I need to understand a lot more about its function

* Magnification?
* Zeroing reticle to POI
* best setting day or night

Chinese made of course but so are many name brand products today, e.g. Leupold, Stihl, Suzuki, etc.
Warranties are an important consideration when buying products today. As we have seen on this forum even the very high end stuff can fail.
The specs of your thermal scope seem good so hopefully it performs well for you.

The manual is really poor. No instructions on how to zero the scope.

By looking at YouTube videos of other brands I plodded through the submenus and found 20+ options for zero profiles and what looks like freezing the frame and moving the reticle etc.

Not difficult but annoying.

I will mount the scope over the weekend and hope to shoot it.

I've also ordered for some Weaver low rings to swap the Burris scope for the thermal when required.

The entry level LM02-25 Thermal scope has no laser or ballistic program.

The manual is very limited. No instructions on how to zero it. Description of submenu is terrible.
Default language was Chinese!!! I plodded through the menu and somehow managed to find English!!

I then found 2 different features that moved the reticle or a cross on the screen.
I could not find any menu for freezing the picture.

I took it to a mate's farm and at 30 meters first shot was 18 inches low. I tried adjusting the cross in the advanced menu and no luck. Wasted many shots. No clue what that screen is for.

I then tried the other option and got on paper. I had to adjust 88 clicks at 30 meters for zero.

At 100 meters, it was 5 inches high. I was able to zero it finally.

The 5 Thermal modes are a lottery. I found Red hot worked best.

8x zoom was blurry on target. Sheep and cow were showing up but very pixilated.

At 2x the Thermal signal was good even at 500+ meters on a mob of sheep.

After 2 hours we managed to sight the rifle.

The scope should be adequate for hunting at 200 meters.

The next day I found online the manual for a top end Sytong AM series I think and it had the info for freezing the picture and zeroing the scope. I tried on my LM02 & it worked.
