Hi, any info or personal experience with this firm? They seem to have good prices and are willing to sell overseas.

Prior to Sept. 2001 almost everything might be imported from US...... but now it's a PITA. Anyway, I don't understand why a few firms do send optics to Europe while most simply refuse, under cover of some sort of ban. Confused

P.S. I know Theopticzone, I've bought 2 scopes from them. dancing

The primary reason many companies refuse to ship overseas is fraud prevention. Many companies have been burned by someone buying overseas. There usually is no recourse when the fraud occurred in another country, so often they just have a blanket policy to protect themselves.

I wasn't enough clear; many firms do send binoculars and spotting scopes to EU, but refuse to send riflescopes and red dot scopes, except a couple of them, that are willing to send almost everything

Duckboat is correct that a lot of retailer will not send international orders due to fraud, but there are a couple of other reasons also. One, merchant accounts typically charge a retailer more for charging an international credit card. Second, there are some restriction to export riflescopes too. An export license is required with the US Government before you can export a riflescope to certain countries. Some retailers say all or none, so the is why you see some retailer not shipping international.

I don't think I have tried Opticalplanet but a lot of dealers won't even ship to Alaska except by extremely expensive UPS or FedEx Air although the USPS will ship about anything small up here for $10 or $12 in 3 days or less Priority Mail.

Don't feel bad about living out of the U.S.when it comes to ordering optics!

My unfortunate experience with them was probably odd, but it really annoyed me.

I have purchased a set of Zeiss Binoculars, a Kahles illuminated reticle scope and a Swarovski Z6 scope from them last year prior to my Zimbabwe trip. That went fine, however, then Swaro came out with the Z6i line and I decided that I wanted that on my rifle. I figured since all had gone well with them before, I would buy from them again.

They listed a Z6i 1-6 EE scope as "in stock", so I ordered it.

The next day they thanked me for my order and said it was on the way. I checked the tracking stuff they sent and it said it had shipped. I did not get a scope in 3 days so I rechecked the tracking ---- Backordered.

I sent an email immediately and asked what had happened. No one knew, but I finally got a reply from a manager type who said it had never been there, that Swaro was behind on deliveries, but that a delivery was imminent. I wanted the scope, and when I talked to the folks at Swarovski they said they were not sure when the next shipment was coming, so I just waited. The end result was having to order a different scope (the Kahles tended to hit my shooting glasses each time I shot- eye relief was a little too short) and got my gunsmith to put it on the rifle the day before I left (potential big booboo).

I would have difficulty trusting these folks as they tend to say everything is in stock, and they have no clue when it will arrive. It may be that this is just Swarovski stuff as I have had similar problems with other internet dealers on Swarovski stuff, although the others if you call them have been able to tell if its really in stock or not, and these guys thought everything was hunky-dory once they reversed the charges to my credit card.

I ordered from OP two months ago, and the shipment just arrived.

I was trying to get an estimated time of arrival the whole two months.

MidSouth is cheaper, and shows on line what is in stock.

Became very dissatisfied with the delivery of some binoculars I ordered and ended up cancelling the order. Placed the same order with Eagle Optics...same price, free delivery, and was very satisfied with their service.

I bought a pair of high end Swift binos and saved $200. Shipped in 4 days. No problems.
They are great binos too! Almost as clear as my buddy's Zeiss.

I have only had good experiences with them. Both shipping to Denmark and to Afghanistan (an APO adress)
