Fellas, at some point I'm going to add a spotting scope to the toolbox. I need one that will work at the range, from the truck/camp, and also for backpack hunting. Because of that last criterion, I'm looking at relatively small and light scopes, such as the Vortex Razor 11-33x50. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this scope or one like it. Input? Recommendations? Thanks.

IMO you'd be bettwer served with one of the following small spotters:
Kowa
Athlon
Nikon

Please give us a call to discuss what would be best for you, 516-217-1000

Thanks Doug. Curious, what makes you recommend those units over the Vortex? I checked your site and see a few Athlon and Kowa units. Do you have any specific recommendations for a unit under two pounds in the same price range (or even less) as the Razor? I don't need to see miles, just be able to get a good bead on an animal that I identify as having potential with a 10x binocular. And I didn't mention it, but I'm interested in an angled unit.

The little Kowa 50mm for around $300.00 is an exceptional scope and weights a little over a pound.
Give a call and we can discuss these optic options

Thanks again Doug. I presume you are speaking of the TSN-501.

Does anyone have experience with these? I haven't seen one locally to look through.

A few of my friends have the 501 and better Kowa's and I have looked through them at the range. Exceptional clarity.

If i didn't already have 3 BalScope Sr. spotters, I'd definitely get a Kowa 501.
