I was wondering how the older banner scopes 3x9x40 that were made in japan compared to today scopes?

I've had 2 of the older 4-12 Bushnell Banners with BDC, and found their optical qualities and tracking ability were just fine. Couple years ago i was doing some reticle measurements, and between several intermediate quality optics the 4-12 Banners were the clearest and brightest of all.

I have a 4x12 Banner AO on a 22-250 and it has been excellent, and shoot's tiny groups.

The reason I ask seen one made marked in japan for $45.00 like new condition,just thought optic made in japan has to be better then made in china?I think the bushnell banner scope to day are made in china.
