I will be putting an Ultradot 30 on my Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter. I see that besides the rings from Ruger (I take it that Redhawks and Blackhawk Hunters can use the same rings), Warne also makes rings for this model.

Noticing that they fit together differently - Ruger using the traditional top/bottom ring setup, while Warne uses their vertical split ring setup. Has anyone found that one type of system is more durable than the other (on a magnum revolver)? Or is the difference negligible or nonexistent?

i don't think you'll find a difference

I have both and don't experienced any difference in reliability. However, I tend to prefer the Warne because of its Picatinny rail and more numerous hex screws.

I currently have Warne Maxima rings on my Remington 700 and they work very well(guess I should have said that earlier). I was just wondering how durable they may be on a magnum revolver.

I personally do not care for the 4 screw fastening design used in Ruger rings. Talley rings are always my first choice with Warne rings being a close second. Note that in the Boddington series of Ruger #1 rifles, the rings that came with each rifle were Warne rings.

I use nothing but Warne as they are durable, rugged and have never let me down. Plus, used properly, they never, ever leave any marks on a scope. Last year, I sold one of my Conquest scopes that had been in and out of Warne rings no less than 13 times. The tube still could have passed for brand new. For me -- personally -- I wouldn't consider putting a nice scope in any other set of rings besides Warne.
