Considering a rifle which has this scope mounted on it. Solid seals and clear glass, turrets, wouldn't be surprised if there were some ring marks underneath, but all in all pretty clean shape.

If didn't like it, and wanted to replace it, what would this kind of used scope be worth? $50-$100, maybe, on the used market?

wallhead--I don't know if all Balvars were made in Rochester,NY but if this one was made there, it should be a mighty fine scope and worth more than your estimate.

Grew up in Duluth.. Sounds like one of the later Bausch&Lomb's before Bushnell took them over. I have a 2.5X10X40 Balvar that I bought in 87. At the time a very high end scope. Made in Japan not Rochester. Still a good scope. Not sure on value, but would guess $100 to $150 range if all is good with the scope.
