It appears to be on par with the VX3 range as far as glas is concerned, but with a 30 mm tube like their European range. It has an illuminated recticle dot that can go brighter and dimmer by way of a push button.

The Leupold VX•R 3-9x40 mm sells for S479.95 at SWFA.

This one might be a winner as a DG scope.
This design does not feature that ugly protruding wart on the eyepiece.
I also like the illuminated dot better than the whole reticule or part therof.
The 8 levels of brightness makes it also more versatile to one's individual taste.
