I was looking into a used VX-6 and was wondering if they were worth the money? I love great glass and have had great luck with Zeiss and Swarovski. The 6 seems like it commands a premium price. Is it worth it or should I save my money for a Nightforce?

I've got my first Nightforce and it appears to be worth the money.

Might consider a VX5 for about 1/2 the price.
Same optics and construction.

I really like my VX6s, but I think the VX5 is a better value. The Leupolds are much more svelte than the chubby NF scopes, especially if you’re putting them on a hunting rifle.

What do you want to use it on and for?

Leupold is a respectable brand but l wouldn't trust any modern scope for long on anything that kicks a lot. If you want it for dangerous-game hunting, you might also think about the field blending and FoV lost to the field stop they use to mask stray light reflecting off the inner wall of the erector tube when scopes are badly mounted.

Really good old reticle-movement Zeiss/Hensoldt, B. Nickel, S&B, Kahles, Swarovski Habicht and Pecar scopes can still be found on the Internet, if you have time to look for them. There are also some good American scopes such as Unertl, Leupold Mountaineer and Lyman Alaskan but they may be much older. Bausch & Lomb, Leupold et al also made even-tougher hunting scopes with no internal adjustments but mounts can be hard to find. You may finish up paying just as much after proper mounting of any of the above but the result should be much tougher and have less bulk and tunnel vision.

When buying such scopes, interrogate the seller as to fungus etc and make sure the reticle moves out of centre, unless it's a Pecar Champion.
