I have 2 1.5X6 S&B and love them, mine don't have the flash dot.

I have the 1.1x4 with the No4 flashdot reticle.

I love the reticle, but it is on a 375H&H and I don't shoot that far, so I can't really answer how the flashdot would work at longer range.

The brightness is adjustable over a very wide range, but I have only used the illumination feature on its lowest setting, when the cross hairs weren't visible, or not very visible. The No4 reticle allows for very fast target acquisition, imo.

As far as quality, well, S&B just can't be beat.

400 yards is a long way to shoot with a 308 Win - perhaps you should consider a reticle with stadia.
