Can someone tell me the quality of glass in the VX-R? I have VX-III, VX-3, and like them. Looking at the VX-R Scout. Is the R's on the same level as the 3's, Better, Worse? Thanks for any help. Larry

I believe the glass of the VX-R to on par the VX-3. I used the VX-R 2-7 in Australia for a buff cull. The 30mm tube makes a significant difference. I also own a number of VX-3s. Geoff Shooter

I agree. They are about the same to me. I've heard the glass is a little better in the VX3 but the 30MM tube equals them out. I've owned both. Neither compares to the VX6 if you don't mind the extra cost. Don Trust only those who stand to lose as much as you do when things go wrong.

I have both vx III, vx 3 and vxr. To my eyes the vxr is brighter and clearer along me to see about 30 minutes or so earlier in the am and later in the pm. Of course we are also comparing 1" optics to 30 mm optics. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

The fact that a scope has a 30mm tube has nothing to do with how good it is optically IMO.

Thanks for the input. I thing the 30mm tube will be an asset for the scout configuration along with illumination. Does not seem to be a lot out there for forward mounting scopes. My leupolds have been good to me over the years and if the glass is somewhere in that arena it will work well for me. Thanks again.
