I posted in the Medium Bore Rifles forum, but thought I would get some opinions here as well. I'm about to acquire a .340 Weatherby Mark V Deluxe, and want to place a nice solid scope on it. I'm thinking about a Swarovski because (1) I don't own one, and (2) this will be the nicest gun I own, and therefore I feel like I should match it with a nice piece of glass. I know that sounds a little silly, but it's just my mind set. Anyway, thoughts on the Swaro PH 3-12x50 for this gun, or any other Swaro model? Thanks in advance.

Techsan I have a Leupold 3 x 9 x 40 on my .378 Weatherby Magnum and have never had a problem with it under recoil. And my .378 dosen't have a muzzle break. They are tough scopes. Any of the top end scopes will be fine. Steve

My philosophy is the better the gun shoots, the more I spend on the scope. As one fellow said, "Only accurate rifles are interesting." So if it's accurate and I have confidence in it, it gets a good scope. Otherwise, it's probably on the consignment rack. I love my Swaro American Line 4-12x50 with 4A reticle. You can practically see in the dark with the thing too. Great scope. Is it worth the money? Well, it is a truly fantastic scope, but Conquests and Kahles are pretty great scopes too but much less expensive. If you like the rifle and it's accurate and you will use it for a lot of hunting, go for it. LWD
