Handgun red dot: Tasco or Bushnell?

Back in the 1990s I used to compete in IPSC and PPC. Tasco PDP red dot scopes were considered to be quite competent and a number of the shooters used them successfully. Are the PDP 2/PDP3 still worthwhile or would one of the comparable Bushnell Trophy models be a better bet? I will be mounting it on a 22/45 Ruger handgun or a Ruger 10/22. Maybe even on a .50 T/C muzzleloader.

i'm still using the tasco PP11's. they gave less trouble than all the others combined. that said I just put on of the holographics sights on a walther G22 and it really made a neat setup

Joe,

If your question is about their reliabilty/durability then I can certainly recommend a PDP3.
My Marlin 45/70 has been wearing one of these for over 600 rounds and it has performed flawlessly.
The loads I use in this gun give me a headache every time I pull the trigger (300gr @ 2335fps) so I figure that to be a fair test of durability.
Downside is the rings they supply are crap.
Tossed them as soon as I opened the box and went with a set from Weaver.

Cheers,

Joe,

I've never tried the Tasco or Bushnell's because I've bee satisfied with either the Millet 30mm Red Dot or the 2X Aim Point.

Aim Point's are pretty spendy for sure; the Millet on the other hand was @ 100.00 but has lived a very satisfactory life on a 9.3x62 so it's taken a beating and like a Timex's - still ticking.

Cheers,
