I've owned 2 IOR's
One was a "hunting" model, the other was a "tactical" version.

All in all, they are OK.
Rugged build and so so finish.
They have been called a "poor mans Schmidt and Bender" but they are not in the same league as S&B, IMHO.

I had a bit of an eye relief issue (short) with the 2.5-10 tactical model while mounted on a .300 Win mag.

I hated the turrets because they were too short and have a funky system to set your zero.

CS dept leaves a little to be desired, or at least it was a few years ago.
They did replace a scope for me, after a little bit of a run around.
As I understand it, they have come around and are doing better now.

Glass quality was quite good actually, but had a yellow tint to it that I didn't like.

Are you considering the hunting or tactical version?

IMHO IOR optics are excellent, both optically and mechanically ... own a couple of scopes aswell as a couple of binos ... optically they are second to none ... the yellow tint that was referred before is to improve low light conditions (and could be seen in older models, nowadays they bring a filter for the very same purpose)

take a look at them side by side and compare with any other scope, you will find that IORs are in the same league as S&B, Swaro, Zeiss ... but much cheaper ... IOR are unbeatable for the money !!

click www.valdada.com for more technical info ... but I won´t reccomend you to but it there if you decide so ... you can find them MUCH cheaper elsewhere

That's a stretch. Roll Eyes

Optics are very subjective, so your milage may vary.
I'd PAY the extra for a S&B or a Zeiss Diavari, and have. Wink

Read my first sentences Roll Eyes... in fact my post is subjective cause it is MY opinion Cool.... of course I am not comparing IOR with the best models of the mentioned ... but in fact considering price and quality, I would not pay the extra and have the IOR Wink - and would waste the extra I thus saved in hunting Smiler

Your NOT comparing IOR to the top shelf Euro's??? Confused

You just did, my friend.

You said they, IOR, DO in fact compare with S&B, Zeis and Swaro, but cheaper in your opinion.
Right?

Cheaper in price not in quality - thus neither their performance ... IOR provides all what you might need in ANY hunting situation (as top EURO´s do) for MUCH less money than top Euro´s ... I was comparing IOR price and quality vs the mentioned others prices and consequent qualities ... that´s what I am comparing: what kind of performance can I expect at certain given price ... and after doing that I will keep my IOR any day ... for a rather low price you (at least me) can get a hell of a scope ...

Actually I also think that they are a good investment since their price might rise ... not talking of dumping politics applied Roll Eyes but almost Wink ...

I happened to be in Bucharest last year and wanted to buy a 10x50 bino there ... guess what? They asked me (at IOR own place) 600 euros ... I finnally bought the very same binos in USA at 400 USD .... Eeker yes, I was quite surprised when MR Isidor (IOR manager) told me their price at their very own place, Romania (nor freight or custom duties applied in none of the mentioned cases, just FOB values)

i purchased the 4x32 hunting scope last year(actually 2). it was optically average when comparing it to bushnell 4200's, weaver grand slams, etc. i sold mine and bought a weaver grand slam 4.75x40, and i can tell the difference.

though i do believe that different eyes see glass differently, so maybe that was the case here.

if anyone's interested, i still have a IOR 4x32, 4a reticle scope, NIB, that i'd be willing to part with, for say, $220. ;-)
