I just purchased a new Aimpoint Comp ML3 for my Rock River AR. The sight is great and I am very pleased with it.

It comes with a "protective" rubber cover, and I cannot decide if I like it or not. Here are the 2 issues I have with it:

1. It looks and feels cheap

2. I'm afraid that since it fits snug/tight over the entire sight, that dirt and sand might get under the cover and "grind" into the housing.....therefore causing more damage from abrasion than it probably would have sustained without the cover.

Does anyone here have experience with this cover and whether or not it is worth messing with?
