Just try to find one.

If it ain’t a 5-30 with 56mm diameter objective it’s discontinued.

And less than a foot long and at least a pound and half in weight?

Discontinued.

Whatever happened to the top-end 2.5-10 or 12 with a 40-45 mm objective and illuminated reticle without any needless ocular protuberances?

I can’t be the only guy who wishes he could find one except on the spotty used market.

Michael,

Those size scopes are some of my favourites. Some of my choices that I sell and are still in production:

Leupold VX6 - 2-12x42
Leupold VX5 - 2-10x42, 3-15x44
Kahles Helia - 4-12x44 (1” tube)
Schmidt & Bender - 3-18x42 Meta (The ocular is quite large though)
Schmidt & Bender - 3-12x42 Klassik (more budget line)
Leupold VX3 30mm tubes.

I'm looking into that site, Jiri, and find it most interesting.

I like their explanation for using 34mm tubes - it's simply to double the thickness of the metal for strength, since internal diameter is the same as in their 30mm models.

While I'm in no hurry to go to 34mm scopes, their outlook backs up my thoughts on modern alloy one-inch tubes; take great care when mounting them!

Thanks. The March scopes look interesting.

Can't find the one inch tubed Kahles or the 42mm objective 3-12 S&B Klassik for love nor money.

The Leupold VX 5 and 6 HDs are available and I have thought about them, but IMO they are not quite up to the European glass.

Can't seem to find 30mm tubed Leupold VX 3 HDs, although I confess I have not searched high and low.

I have found a few S&B Metas! Great scopes. They appear to be discontinued here. I may have to buy one of the ones I have found.

I am not sure if maybe it is exclusive to regions outside the USA?

Here is the S&B Klassik in the USA:

https://www.eurooptic.com/Schm...1-482-05-05-A02.aspx

The Kahles link from their website:

https://www.kahles.at/en/hunt/...opes/helia3-4-12x44i

The S&B Meta is about to be replaced with a newer version which I don’t think I will like. It is a FFP reticle and target style turret.

I missed that 42 mm objective 3-12 Klassik at EuroOptic. Their website’s search function is squirrelly sometimes. You have to search in a couple of different ways and still can miss things.

No joy on any useful Kahles, at least for me.

In any case I’m shying away from one inch tubes and non-illuminated reticles these days, which further complicates things.
