Another rifle just followed me home from the gun store and it came with a set of Leupold QR bases Like These . The rear base lever has a stop point in its movement which corresponds to the release/open position(ie; pointing to the rear of the action). The front base lever just spins around and around, both clockwise/counterclockwise. My question is the front or rear base broken? Are they supposed to do this? Will they hold a scope reliably or should I chuck them and get a set of Talley's(which I may do anyway since the bases block the rear sight)? Not sure if when the protrusion on the bottom of the matching rings is installed, the levers will tighten into place and stay there. Can anyone with this set up offer some insight?

i think my qr bases would go all the way around except when the rings are in place then they cam up real tight

I have a couple sets of them. The levers will spin 360 degrees without the rings in place. They work OK, the levers flop around while you are hunting with iron sights, which bothered me. Of course this had nothing to do with function. I like the Talleys and have pretty much gone to QD Talleys. I like to take a spare sighted-in scope when hunting a long way from home. A shot not taken is always a miss
