I called about my Elite 4200 4-16 because it was fogging up like crazy the last 2 years (rainguard my @$$) Anyway, I thought I would take notes of how it goes for others considering buying Bushnell products.

1. Sent in 14 Dec 09, arrived 17 Dec 09.

I'll be watching with interest. My single experience with support on a Bushnell brand product was way less than satisfactory.

I wouldn't buy anything from Bushnell. I called them once to find out what the beam divergence of their rangefinders was and the guy didn't even want to talk to me (the smaller the divergence the better). Either he didn't know or didn't want me to know. I was trying to get info to compare against other rangefinders. I bought the Leica, but have heard negative comments about their warranty too.

My experience with Bushnell customer service is one reason I don't have any of their products anymore. Years ago I sent in a brand new 4200 scope that wouldn't hold zero. They sent it back to me a month later saying there wasn't anything wrong with it, but strangely it would hold zero when I got it back. They also sent a bill for a $10 service fee. I still have the bill around here somewhere, I wasn't about to pay it.

They lied about the scope being defective and then tried to charge me $10 for warranty service on a brand new scope. I wasn't impressed and haven't bought a bushnell since.

UPDATE #1 -
Well, I talked to the Bushnell Rep today. He explained what was wrong(fogging and no water shed) and what he had done to fix it(refill of nitrogen). I explained that won't help the exterior lens shed any water and he agreed. It took about 5 minutes of explaining how sending it back to me, just to have me send it back when it got here, made no sense for either of us. Again, he agreed and asked what he could do to remedy the situation.

THE TURNAROUND
He explained he would credit me the wholesale cost of my scope and then sell me a scope of my choice at wholesale cost. I said that I would be happy with that. So, I paid $216.00 over the phone and he is sending me a new Elite 6500 2.5x16x42 Tactical. I was suprised and happy to say the least. As for my experience, I am actually very happy with how I was treated by Glen in repairs.

ps - My hunting partner works at Cabelas and told me he has heard nothing but BAD accounts of Bushnell customer service. However, I am very pleased to say the least.

UPDATE #2 -
I changed my mind about which scope I wanted. I called Bushnell this morning and for an extra $50 they are sending me a NEW 4.5-30 x 50 with TT. They have made this very easy for me. I almost feel guilty Smiler Again, a great experience.

Bushnell is one of the only scope companies that has treated me right. I needed some extra turret caps and some sunshades for a few browning scopes which are a 3200 bushnell. I sent the order in by mail. I received a letter back stating that the parts were not available and the scopes would need to be sent in. I called and explained the situation. The service rep could not believe the letter I received. He put me on hold and went and personally filled the order. No charge for about 50 bucks of parts.

Now Burris... Well I don't want to type for the next three hours in regards to how they treated me. Leupold never admits to problems but the scopes always comes back fixed. Nikon hard to get through to a human but they will do you right as well.

Took out the 6500 and it works great. I have shot it in 3 sessions now and have no problems at all. Clicks are crisp and move only when you want it to. Focus is great. This weekend we are going to compare it with my buddies 8.5-25 Mark IV. Let you know what happens.
