Since you asked in more than one forum, I'll reply in more than one forum, "I've been looking myself. I've pretty much decided on the Pentax 100 ED that Cameraland has on special with the zoom eye piece. They have a smoking deal on "demo" models right now, for both the 82 ED and the 100 ED models. I'll be counting my pennies and rolling some quarters after we get back from Yellowstone in mid-August." Si tantum EGO eram dimidium ut bonus ut EGO memor

Hello, Kowa is the only brand I have experience with at ranges @ 400 and beyond and find them to be of excellent quality. Many long range shooters rely on their Kowa's. Sure others are OK, but Kowa is known to be excellent gear. martin

I've had a Kowa before buying a Swarovski AT80 HD and, since, couldn't go back to the former. There's really no comparison in terms of optical quality. Same as with rifle scopes, you may he happy with a Tasco until... you take a look through a Swaro or Zeiss. André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

I have the Swarofski AT-80 and am very happy with it. I was comparing the Swarofski with the Zeiss, and found out some interesting info. The focus adjustment on the Zeiss is done by a rubber belt, on a small fly wheel system. As heat and cold effect the belt, or the belt becomes brittle it may have difficulty in getting precise focusing adjustments. The Swarofski on the other hand has a threaded metal male -female adjusting system that cannot be effected by weather or wear. The clarity on Swarofski's optics are great and in addition to the spotting scope, I have the El 8X32 Bino's and 3 rifle scopes (Z6IEE 1X6, Z6I 1.7X10 and a 4X16) Will be getting their scopes on upcoming rifles being built in 416 Rigby and 505 Gibbs.
