Does anyone have any experience using a BDC reticle on a .204?

Just picked up a Nikon 6-18X40 for my new TC .204 and this will be my first time with the BDC reticle.

I have a couple bdc reticles and not comfortable with them to begin with. On Acogs & Leupolds and I just think they can vary with loads, caliber, ect. If I'm shooting long range, I wouldn't even trust them. Up to 6-8 hundred yards you should know how much drop is going on and correct for it; at least how I do it.
