Warne scope rings problem

I had a set of steel warne split rings on my winchester 70 with a leupold 4-12x40 scope. If the rings were tightened down the scope wouldn't adjust the magnification. If loosened until magnification adjustment was possible it just didn't seem tight enough. I scrapped them and went with a set of leupold weaver style rings that work just fine. Any one else have this problem with the warne rings?

I have a number of sets of Warne rings and never had any problems. I'd mike the scope tube and then the rings.

Also, try moving the scope either forward or backwards in the rings. Chances are that will correct the problem. Nonetheless, I'd still get the scope checked out as I'd wager therein lies the actual problem. I've heard of cheapies locking up from pressure directly over the elements, but the better scopes should not suffer from the same problem.
