US Redfield 4x Scope with/cracked Obj Lens

Before I go plowing around on the net looking for a potential source for repair, I figured I'd ask the forum members.

The scope is an older (US made) Redfield 4x and the only damage appears to be one of the inner OBJ lens layers is cracked from edge to edge-chording off about a third of the lens diameter. I did not know the scope was damaged when acquired, but I figured something was amiss when I could not zero it to a known accurate rifle. The bullets would simply spray around the target with no real center, a group about 6 inches at 100yds.

Is this old gal worth repair? Does anyone repair Redfields of this vintage reasonably?

There is but can't remember their name. I checked into it because I have a Redfield 5 star 3-9x40mm that I inherent from my father that is blurry. They quoted me $100.00 and a 6 month turn around time.

repairs are not cheap. I have a 4x US redfield with the coating on the front lens crazing. as I recall, it was about $100 to repair. so I still have the scope.

if you don't care to repair yours, are you interested in selling it? I might be able to use yours for the front lens.

Unless it has some sentimental value I doubt that repairing an older Redfield is economically feasible. They were once the Cadillac of hunting scopes, but their day has passed.

If you do want it repaired, last I checked a company named "Iron Sight, Inc" out of OKC or Tulsa repaired older Redfields. Sorry, I can't find their physical or internet address.

By the way, Doug at CameralandNY has some terrific deals on Minox ZV-3 scopes. 3-9x40 BDC @$149, 3-9x50 BDC @ $139, 4.5-14 BDC @$149.
I have had great luck with the five or six Minox scopes I've bought from Doug. Terrific deal and they were well reviewed by John Barsness for an NRA article.
