I'd kind of like to hear an opinion on the optics, haven't managed to get much if any feedback on the "new lenses and enhanced coatings". Are the target turrets covered with a cap to prevent accidental windage and elevation movements? I've learned that no one local will be stocking them so its buy sight unseen or wait on some feedback from those that have them to look thru.

I have made up my mind to purchase one of these 3-9x42 in the next 2 weeks or so. If I don't like it Jon gets it back and I'll get a Conquest.

I'm ready for a 3x12x42AO or a 4x16x42AO, but without even seeing thru one I'm torn between just getting a 4.5x14 conquest and knowing it will optically be what I want. I don't know if I can just return the big sky if its not what I want and if not than I'm stuck with a lower resale value scope to peddle. One thing about leupolds and conquests.....they sell easy and allow you to recoup most of your money. I'm very impressed by the new scope replacement warranty that exceeds all other makes, and the "rainguard like" coatings. But bottom line is....I have to like the optics or warranty and lens coatings won't mean squat. I'd love to have one mounted on a scope comparator....with a conquest right underneath. Wouldn't take too long to make a decision. I'll probably wait till you get yours and see what you say, you seem to have a pretty good handle on optics.

Hey Jon,

I see you have the new Monarch's as well. How about some comparison between the Big Sky's and Monarch's??? I like and use both Nikon's and SII's.

Bob,

Can not do the comparison quite yet. The Nikon Monarchs are not scheduled to be released until the end of June.
