I have a 50 vintabe Bushnell bushmaster 10X, the cross hairs move independantly! I won't know for sure but when i adjusted the scope for 6 clicks up and a sub 1" group went to 2+, and then something out of the past make me take 2 click down and the goup looked like it was comming together but I had to get going from a public unregulated range and i had a chance to grab my target W/o getting shot and took it so i don't know for sure, but is this normal for a old/loose scope? meaning having to move past the adjustment then back to where ya actually want it to keep everything tight?

Sounds right, by now the lube inside may be getting a bit hard. Don't know if it will help but if you ever get it "un-zeroed" again you could try heating the scope up a bit then exercise the adjustments back and forth and it may just smooth up.?
