The Nikon Monarch ATB binoculars are great binoculars and they are very hard to beat fo the money. I personally don't like the 12x power model. Little to much power to hold steady. Jon Jackoviak The Optic Zone - Discount Rifle Scopes, Spotting Scopes and More! Email: info@theopticzone.com

I have a set of Nikon Bino's that are 10x40 or 10x42, can't remember. I use my binoculars constantly and really like these a lot. Seems to have good glass for a clear sight picture and no headaches from glassing all day. In my opinion 12 power is too much unless you have a specific use for them. Over the years I've used 8 or 10 power bino's for glassing and if I need more power for evaluating an animal I get my spotting scope out.

Got a Nikon bino that's several years old, 8x40. It is a great bino for the price, and is one of those actually made in Japan. I hunted whitetail with it for several years. It has very good low light performance. I upgraded to a Leica for my first African trip a couple of years ago and am glad I did, but I'll keep the Nikon, anyway. FWIW, don't go above 10x for general hunting. I prefer 8x42's for general use. 12x is shaky and difficult to hold sufficiently steady to effectively glass, unless you use a rest. If you need greater magnification, pick up a decent spotting scope.

The Nikon Monarch ATB binoculars are now made in China. There are better binoculars available for the same price. If you are looking at 12x binoculars get a look at the Vortex Vulture. You learn something new everyday whether you want to or not.
